Privacy policy
Last updated 3 October 2026
Fio helps families make sure household instructions are understood. You’re trusting us with details about your home, so here is, in plain words, what we collect, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.
Who we are
“Fio”, “we” and “us” mean the team that runs fio and this website. We decide how and why your personal information is used, which makes us the “controller” under data protection laws such as the EU and UK GDPR.
For anything about your data, use the privacy request form below. It comes straight to us.
What we collect
Only what you give us when you set up your home, and nothing more:
- Your email address.
- About your home: country and how many adults and children live there. We do not ask for family members’ names, children’s ages or health details.
- About your helper: the language that’s easiest for them and whether they use WhatsApp. We do not ask for your helper’s name, phone number or any other details.
- What you’d like help with, and how you share instructions today.
- Whether you’d like occasional news from us (only if you tick the box).
- If you send a privacy request: your email, the type of request and your message.
Like every website, our hosting provider also records basic technical information when pages load (such as IP address, browser type and time), to keep the service running and secure.
Why we use it
- To set up and run your account, and to contact you about it. This is needed to give you the service you asked for.
- To improve Fio, for example by learning which household topics matter most. We look at answers in summary, not to profile you.
- To send product news, only if you said yes. You can change your mind at any time.
- To keep the website secure and prevent misuse.
We never sell or rent your personal information, and we don’t use it for advertising.
Cookies and tracking
This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don’t use analytics that follow you across other websites. Our fonts are served from our own website, so loading a page doesn’t share your IP address with font providers. If we ever add optional cookies, we’ll ask you first.
Who helps us run Fio
We use trusted service providers to host the website and store sign-up information. They only process your data on our instructions and are bound by data processing agreements:
- Lovable, which hosts this website.
- Supabase, which provides the database where sign-up details are stored.
These providers may process data outside your country. Where that happens, we rely on legal safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
We keep sign-up details while we’re setting up and running your account. If we don’t hear from you for 24 months, we delete them. Privacy requests are kept for as long as needed to show we handled them properly. You can ask us to delete your data sooner at any time.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- show you the information we hold about you;
- correct it if it’s wrong;
- delete it;
- stop sending you product news;
- stop using it in a particular way, or give you a copy to take elsewhere.
We’ll reply within one month. If you’re in the EU or UK and you’re unhappy with our answer, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Fio is for adults running a household. It isn’t meant for children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If the change is important, we’ll tell you by email before it applies.
